JASPER XIE
Junior Tournament Assistant
Jasper is currently a high school student who was first introduced to the game of chess at the age of seven. Fascinated by its complexity, strategicness, and uniqueness, he started taking classes at CCYC where he met Mark and Panos to better understand chess and its strategies.
As the years went by, Jasper became more skilled at the game and played in many tournaments. Realizing that high school requires Community Involvement Hours, Jasper took that opportunity to volunteer as an arbiter for the Toronto Chess Centre (TCC).
Since February 2024, he has volunteered at almost every CYCC and OCC qualifier tournament that the TCC has hosted. This allowed Jasper to get a lot of experience in running tournaments, utilizing his organization and communication skills, and providing suggestions to improve the quality of the tournaments.
