OVERVIEW

CYCC and OCC Qualifiers are a great way for students to get involved in tournament competition and practice their chess skills. These are low stress events where junior players can be qualified to compete in the Canadian Youth Chess Championships and the Ontario Chess Challenge. There is no better place to start competing than our CFC and CMA rated tournaments!

REGISTRATION

All players must submit this online form by no later than December 7, 2024. The event capacity is 160 players.

Wheelchair accessible. Free parking. Access to public wi-fi.

REQUIREMENTS

Players must be born after Jan 1, 2007

SECTIONS

U8 Open / U8 Girls

U10 Open / U10 Girls

U12 Open / U12 Girls

U14 Open / U14 Girls

U16 Open / U16 Girls

U18 Open / U18 Girls

Depending on registration numbers. Sections may be combined

FORMAT

Regular Swiss or Round Robin (depending on section size)

TIME CONTROL

G/20 min + 5 sec increment

ROUND TIMES

Round 1: 11:00 am

Round 2: 12:00 pm

Lunch Break

Round 3: 13:30 pm

Round 4: 14:30 pm

Round 5: 15:30 pm

Closing Ceremony

PRIZES

The top three finishers in each section shall be awarded medals

QUALIFICATION

Players with a score of at least 50% will be qualified to compete in the Canadian Youth Chess Championship. Top 10% per grade qualify to compete in the Ontario Chess Challenge.

ENTRY FEE

$60/player

PAYMENT METHOD

By eTransfer to [email protected] with the player’s full name mentioned as a note. Please, make the payment by December 7, 2024, 11:59 pm. No cash on site.

REFUNDS

– $60 back if you notify us of your withdrawal by December 5, 11.59 p.m.

– $30 back if you notify us of your withdrawal by December 7, 11:59 p.m.
